How Type Valet handles your information

Type Valet is a text expander and clipboard tool for Mac made by Epiphani Studios LLC ("Epiphani Studios," "we"). This policy covers the Type Valet app, typevalet.com, and the Epiphani account the app signs in to. It explains what each feature sends, where it goes, and why.
On your Mac
Your snippet library, your clipboard history, your settings and the counts of how often each snippet fires are stored in your Mac's Application Support folder for Type Valet. Your clipboard history stays on the Mac that captured it.
Sync across your Macs
When you sign in with an Epiphani account and turn on sync, your snippet library is sent over HTTPS to your account at account.epiphani.com, and from there to the other Macs you sign in on. The account holds your name, your email, the devices you have signed in, and your synced library. You can sign out any device from Settings.
Team libraries
If your company uses Type Valet for Teams or Business, groups your team's admin shares are delivered to your Mac and expand like your own snippets. When an owner or admin shares a group, that group's snippets are stored with the organization and delivered to its members. The details you enter under Your details (name, title, phone) fill in {{member.name}} and similar fields in your snippets on your Mac.
AI transforms
When you run an AI transform, the text you selected is sent to the AI provider you configured (Anthropic, OpenAI or Google) using your own API key, and that provider's terms and privacy policy apply to it. Your key is stored in your Mac's Keychain.
The Claude Desktop connector
If you connect Type Valet to Claude Desktop, Claude searches and reads your snippet library through a connector running on your Mac. What Claude does with that text is covered by Anthropic's terms.
Feedback, diagnostics and updates
When you send feedback or a diagnostics report, it goes to our support service with your app version, macOS version and the log lines that help us fix the problem; a screenshot is included only when you attach one. Diagnostics reports leave out your snippet and clipboard contents. The app checks our update feed for new versions, sending its current version number.
Purchases
Purchases are processed by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar handles checkout and payment details and tells us the email used, the product and the amount, so we can attach your license to your account. Polar's handling of payment data is described in Polar's privacy policy.
This website
typevalet.com counts visits and records page sessions with PostHog only after you accept the analytics banner. Choosing No thanks keeps that off, and a browser that sends a Do Not Track signal is treated the same way.
What we do with your information
- We use it to run the features you turn on, and to fix problems you report. The reports you send and the site visits you allow also show us which features to make better next.
- We never sell your data, and we do not run advertising.
- Service providers who process data for us (Cloudflare for hosting and the account service, Polar for payments, PostHog for site analytics) handle it under their own terms on our behalf.
Your choices
You can see and change your synced library and Your details in the app at any time. To get a copy of the account information we hold, correct it, or delete it, email hello@epiphani.studio from the address on the account. We answer every request, wherever you live.
Children
Type Valet is made for adults and businesses. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13; if you believe a child has created an account, email us and we will delete it.
Where information is processed
Epiphani Studios is based in the United States, and our service providers process information in the United States and the other countries where they operate.
Keeping and deleting your information
We keep your account, library and order records while your account is active so your licenses and sync keep working. To delete your account and its synced library, email hello@epiphani.studio from the address on the account and we will remove it, keeping only the order records tax law requires.
Changes and contact
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Questions go to hello@epiphani.studio.
